Autumn Spence of Fitness Untamed

By December 5, 2018 Athletes

Today we’re chatting with long time GameDay competitor Autumn Spence. Autumn is Owner and Coach of Fitness Untamed in Mankato, MN. She started competing in CrossFit in 2012 when she lived in Washington D.C.

Autumn, tell us what made you start competing in this sport?

A Friend of mine convinced me to try the CrossFit Open in 2012. After placing top 5 in world on 12.1 (7mins of Burpees) I decided I could get into this sport.

I didn't know that about you and I have to say that's both impressive and horrifying. What do you enjoy most about competition day?

Watching my athletes compete and challenge themselves for sure.

What’s your favorite all time workout or movement?

Thursters and Wallballs… I’m weird I know..

Do you have any advice for first time competitors or people thinking about trying a competition?

Believe in yourself! You will only gain strength by your failures…. And Have Fun and enjoy the ride!

Lastly, is there anything else you'd like to share with our community?

I guess I want to add to my interview “why I keep coming back”

I’ve competed is more than a dozen CrossFit competitions in the US and GameDay is by far of my favorite competition companies. You always know that the wods are going to be fun and challenging and the competition is going to be well run. It is also hard to find individual competitions these days, so I (and many members of my members) are grateful to have these opportunities to challenge our self by ourselves. I (was) extra excited about this years Championship because we have 8(and possibly more) athletes competing as individuals. I am so proud of them and their accomplishments and can not wait to see them shine this November.

Autumn that's extremely kind of you to say, thank you. Thanks so much for everything you and your athletes bring to our events. You're a leader in this community and a fierce competitor. Great luck in 2019!
