Welcome back GameDay fans! Meet Jaime and Britnie from Timberwolf Fitness. Jaime has been doing CrossFit for 4 years, and Britnie for 8 years!
What made you guys start competing in this sport?
We go to Timberwolf Fitness where it’s a super great community with still a competitive feeling. We found a team within the gym and started with them!
What is your favorite thing about competition day?
Britnie: “I like trying things I have never done before, like a max thruster is not something you do every day so it’s fun to do things that you wouldn’t do every day in the gym. I’ve become really good friends with a lot of people I’ve met competing so that’s awesome!”
Jaime: “It’s so much fun doing team stuff and you get a lot of bonding time in with the other athletes. The hype of the competition is unreal and a ton of fun, the energy is the stadium is so cool.”
What’s your favorite workout or movement of all time?
Britnie is more of an olympic lifter, and loves any barbell movements! Jaime has one favorite movement: burpee box jump overs!
How many competitions have you guys done?
Probably 10 or so each over the past few years! We do Granite Games every year and we love doing GameDay competitions when they are close!
How do you prepare and train for a grueling workout?
Britnie: I’m definitely a play to your strengths kind of person, so we do a lot of run this amount of time and with the remaining time do clean and jerks or some movement like that. I know I’m not super strong on the run, but I know I can make up time with the clean and jerks because it’s one of my strengths!
Jaime: If it’s something that I know is going to be miserable, I kind of just start out slow and comfortable. Once you get started though that competitive drive kicks in and you know you just have to go!
