Hello GameDay fam! In today's interview we get to meet Jessica Seefeldt of Crossfit Progression in Rochester. However we know her as Shades! She's been doing CrossFit for 4 years and competing for about a year. Amazingly this is the first athletic thing she's ever done in her life, but you would never guess that when you see her on the competition floor.
Jessica, what made you start competing in this sport?
Watching my badass coach compete at Granite Games, I was like “I want to be that! I want my daughter to see me like that”.
What do you enjoy most about competition day?
The rush! Heart racing, shaking, the music blaring, then 3, 2, 1, go! All of that is gone and you just go, pushing yourself harder than you ever thought possible. The only thing going on in your mind is number of reps and feeling your body push through the pain.
”...you just go, pushing yourself harder than you ever thought possible
What’s your favorite all time workout or movement?
Not partner deadlifts!! Haha! Ummmm…anything with biking, wall balls, or cleans. Fast and hard.
Do you have any advice for first time competitors or people thinking about trying a competition?
You won’t die. You may feel like you are going to, that just means you are doing it right!
